The hand-made margarita is a thing of beauty, tart, sweet, salty and tequila-y. Here are five good ones.

Aqui Cal-Mex
Home of the “industrial strength” margaritas. Don’t go for the pre-mixed margarita but instead ask for a hand-mixed cocktail from the restaurant’s extensive menu of margaritas.

Consuelo
With menu of 11 different margaritas and a list of 350-plus tequilas, safe to say Consuelo has a margarita for you.

El Jardin Tequila Bar and Restaurant
Located right across from Consuelo and owned by the same people, El Jardin offers totally al fresco cocktail enjoyment in the middle of Santana Row. If you’re not a fan of shopping, but like tequila plant yourself her on a warm afternoon while your significant other hits the stores.

Mezcal
Although Mezcal restaurant specializes in mezcal (tequila is one kind of mezcal made from blue agave) they make a classic margarita they call “the perfect margarita,” Don Julio reposado, Grand Marinier, agave syrup, and lime juice. Sounds perfect to me.

Tanq
The flashy, piscine-themed bar next to Arcadia offers its signature “red passion margarita,” Don Julio reposado tequila, pureed passion fruit, pomegrante juice, Cointreau, and lime juice. Served on the rocks for $13.
