San Jose Jazz fans won’t have to wait long to get their fix with the debut of the organization’s 2012 Winter Fest, an encore to the popular summer series announced in January.
From March 9 to March 11, San Pedro Square will play host to an eclectic mix of artists including saxophone prodigy Grace Kelly, who released her sixth album last year at the ripe age of eighteen.
A special collaboration between trumpeter Abrose Akinmusire and pianist Gerald Clayton is also scheduled, along with performances from renowned baritone vocalist Jamie Davis, San Francisco-based global fusion group Rupa and the April Fishes, The Blues All Stars featuring J.C. Smith, Chris Cain and local up-and-comer Maxx Cabello Jr. are also scheduled.
In addition to the concerts held at the Theater on San Pedro Square, the San Pedro Square Market will host a Blues Dance Party with the Legally Blue band and a Salsa Dance Party with Pacific Mambo Orchestra. Participating bars and restaurants along San Pedro Street will also offer food and drink specials to accompany performances by local artists as part of the fest’s free Club Crawl.
Tickets are on sale now, ranging from $15-35 per concert and $15-20 per dance party, with the alternate option of an all-inclusive festival pass for $135.
