Most people spend the work week looking forward to weekend parties, but for industry employees—those on the service side of the equation on Friday and Saturday nights when nine-to-fivers are partying hard—the weekend is the core time to make money, whether it’s hosting parties, mixing drinks, washing dishes or firing up the dance floor.

But even for industry workers, the hard work is not without its rewards. Several San Jose venues offer “industry nights” Sunday through Wednesday, with a scene and drink specials tailored for those who work in the industry.

Industry nights aren’t exclusive to those in the industry. The only requirement is a willingness to party late on a school night.

Sunday

Cardiff Lounge
San Jose’s own Thre3Style Redbull DJ Challenge champ Dominic “Goldenchyld” Cueto hosts Cardiff Lounge’s Sunday parties “Return Of The Boom Zap” and “Just The Tip!” Cueto brings in local DJs from all over San Jose to spin the best dubstep, electronic and remixed tracks.

Motif
Motif is more packed from Thursday through Saturday, but the Sunday crowd is just as lively. Hosting first and third Sunday parties, resident DJs have a “no Top 40” policy and spin only classic hip-hop and R&B for the 25-and-older crowd.

Monday

Fahrenheit
Fahrenheit hosts “Industry Mondays” every week, featuring guest bartenders and DJs from South Bay bars and restaurants.  Service employees get half off on all drinks.

San Jose Bar and Grill
Bringing out the college crowd, San Jose Bar and Grill hosts “Maniac Mondaze” with beer pong tournaments and a $0.50 cent PBR power hour from 10-11pm. SJBG also features a reverse happy hour from 10pm-close for those that get off of work late and want to unwind with a drink or two.

Tuesday

Fahrenheit
College Tuesdays at Fahrenheit feature beer pong tournaments and drink specials that include $2 beers and $3 well drinks and Jager shots. Resident DJs K-Mac, Spin Master J, and DJ 512 spin Top 40, hip-hop, R&B, and rock all night.

Jack’s Bar and Lounge
Located a little outside of downtown San Jose, Jack’s is a neighborhood favorite to grab a beer and hang out with friends. Tuesday nights, Jack’s brings in local DJs like DJ Benofficial of KSJS’s hip-hop show and DJ Cutso of the Bangerz, to spin classic hip-hop and more. Every fourth Tuesday, Cutso hosts “The Fast Life,” a party dedicated to bringing “maximum tuneage” with soul, breaks, funk, garage, hip-hop, and punk cuts.

San Jose Bar and Grill
One of SJBG’s more popular nights, “Eighties and Nineties” is a college throwback party that has weekly ‘80s and ‘90s costume contests. Even the bartenders get into it, clad in neon, sweatbands and tube socks. Resident video-mixer DJ Soul spins the hottest videos from the ‘80s and ‘90s, while also mixing in some new-school flavor. Drink specials include $2 PBRs, kamikazes, well drinks, and specialty shots.

Wednesday

Flames Bar and Eatery
Flames’ happy hour has earned its popularity, with drinks and appetizers half off from 3-6pm and 10pm-close.  A favorite of students and locals, Flames adds on the fun by hosting Karaoke Wednesdays. With a large song selection for participants to choose from, Karaoke Wednesday has become a popular weekday night for students to go out with their friends to unwind.

Cardiff Lounge
DJ Cueto, alongside DJ Nappy, Cutso, and Wendell Davis, hosts “Rubber Soul,” a party strictly dedicated to playing old-school hip-hop, soul, funk and rare grooves.
