There will be no medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Gatos. The decision was made at a public meeting Monday night. Though these meetings in other cities have gotten heated, the Los Gatos version was serene, since no one actually spoke, either for or against the dispensaries.

Furthermore, the decision was made in the wake of a report that cited six armed robberies that have occurred recently in San Jose. Violent crime associated with medical marijuana dispensaries is among the reasons that that city voted to limit the number of MMDs to just ten, far less than there currently are in San Jose.

At the same meeting, the Town Council endorsed the Santa Clara County Cities Association’s resolution asking the federal government to step in by regulating medical marijuana distribution.

With the vote, Los Gatos joined other local towns including Los Altos, Gilroy, Sunnyvale and Mountain View, which have chosen to prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries.
