Groupon may have gotten its start in Chicago, but everything about it is Silicon Valley. It even has office space in Palo Alto, at 409 Sherman Ave. With the recent release of its IPO, however, and the threat of competition from both Google and Facebook products, the company has decided to expand its presence.

Groupon spokeswoman Julie Mossler says that the company has now leased a 40,000-square-foot building at 3101 Park Boulevard to replace the 12,000 square feet it currently occupies. The purpose of the lease, says Mossler, is to provide an adequate workspace for it’s, “rapidly growing Silicon Valley product and engineering teams.”

According to her, the new building can house as many as 300 people.
