A Santa Clara County jury has found Charles Grant guilty of first-degree murder for the two-decade-old fatal stabbing of Kristi Harris in her San Jose apartment.

Harris, 21, was a hairstylist engaged at the time she was killed. She was found dead at her apartment by her roommate on Aug. 29, 1988.
 
Grant was arrested in August 2008 after his DNA was matched to evidence taken from the apartment.

Police said Grant, who was known to use drugs around the time of the murder and was Harris’ next-door neighbor. The verdict was read shortly before 11am Thursday. There were eight men and four women on the jury.
 
Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge David Cena ordered Grant to return to court for sentencing on Sept. 8.
