Monday:
Sovereign Strength
Sprouting from the boiling pot of Los Angeles, Sovereign Strength pummels hardcore metal with ferocity, taking no prisoners and speaking—or rather, screaming—the truth. Their sound is brutal and heavy, with time signature change-ups more frequent than Middle East revolutions. Hardcore metal fans who gave up on the genre ever since Earth Crisis disbanded and reunited ought to check out Sovereign Strength. They perform at The Venue, the all-ages hotspot in Los Gatos, on Monday night.

Tuesday:
Stomp
It takes a stroke of genius to figure out how to transform banging on garbage into a Broadway sensation. Anybody can make noise but to make something that’s musically and rhythmically entertaining takes a bit more creativity. Watch and learn from the pro’s as the cast of Stomp and their musical junkyard setup shop at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts this week.

Wednesday:
English Afternoon Tea Party
Civilization requires civility. On Wednesday, the Santa Clara Community Recreation Center hosts an English afternoon tea party and class where guests can learn how to make classics like egg salad and cucumber mint sandwiches. Tip: it’s all about the quality of the ingredients and the elegant presentation.

Thursday:
Last Dinner on the Titanic
Ever wondered what it was like to dine on the last meal served on the R.M.S. Titanic before it’s fateful end? With an ironic nod to the current state of the economy, the restaurant at the Fairmont Hotel under executive chef Daniel Maurice is offering the exact same culinary experience, minus the capsized mess. The only icebergs on this voyage will be the lettuce.

Friday:
Martin Lawrence
The original Bad Boy first garnered a wide television audience playing multiple outlandish characters like Sheneneh and Mama Payne on his show, Martin. He has since written, directed, produced or starred in more than two dozen comedic films ranging from Big Momma’s House to Death at a Funeral. Awarded the BET Icon Comedy Award in 2005 and two NAACP Image Awards, Martin Lawrence hasn’t given up on Oscar aspirations; Bad Boys III will be hitting theaters next year.
