Holy Shrek! DreamWorks CEO Jeffery Katzenberg has joined the board of Zynga. This means that the creator of “Shrek” gets a say about what happens on the Farm(ville), and that the Farm could soon expand into a vast array of new, animated projects.

“Jeffrey redefined storytelling when he launched DreamWorks Animation,” Zynga founder Mark Pincus said. “His vision will be an asset as we work to define the future of play.”

What does this mean for Facebook gamers? Well, a whole slew of new products could be seen, ranging from super-powered take-offs of “I Am Number Four” to “Frankenweenie, the Game” (in case your livestock dies). After all, there’s a whole lot more to gaming than raising chickens or growing tomatoes. It just takes a creative mind from outside Silicon Valley to find them. And when it comes to creative minds, Katzenberg is tops.
