Monday:
Open Jam Night with Rebelskamp
First, there was the jazz jam. Now, behold the rock jam. The Johnny V’s house band Rebelskamp welcomes guitarists and rockers to shred on stage. It’s BYOGP (bring your own guitar pick). Just none of that fake Rockband or air guitar stuff.
Tuesday:
Sparkling Wine Tasting
Take all the guesswork out of picking the perfect bubbly for New Year’s Eve by sampling twelve sparkling wines from around the world at Mountain View’s Artisan Wine Depot. The tastings span most of the Old World countries including Italy, Germany, Spain and France.
Wednesday:
Mahatma Moses Comedy Tour
The diversity of the Bay Area makes it a great place for surviving Christmas. Dhaya Lakshminarayanan (an Indian Hindu), Joe Nguyen (a Vietnamese Jew) and Samson Koletkar (an Indian Jew) present a cross-cultural evening of stand-up comedy packed with stereotypes, racial profiling, and deep philosophy.
Thursday:
Steve White
Actor/comedian Steve White believes in frugality. He wears Fake Religion jeans (“Scientolojeans”) and drives a Prius that goes 0 to 60 in a while. But he won’t ever take Splenda over real sugar. Andy Woodhull and Sammy Obeid open for White at Rooster T. Feathers in Sunnyvale.
Friday:
Bobby Lee
Skip the raucous night clubs on New Year’s Eve and book a dinner table at the San Jose Improv with Bobby Lee headlining. A frequent panelist on Chelsea Lately, Lee got his start as a cast member on MADtv in 2001. He’s also the only comedian to have played both an Inuit and a Trekkie in an Eminem music video.
