Description
A member of the tight-knit South Bay skate scene in the early 80s, San Jose native Joe Sib got himself thrown out of the local punk band Front-Line. He moved to Los Angeles, but still managed to find his way back in time to get thrown out of his next band, Wax, in a San Jose hotel off the 280. In between that, though, he and his Wax bandmates blazed a trail, making post-Pixies rock whose time was just about to come. They got signed to a major label and did a video with skater friend Spike Jonze. Wax looked like it was going to break big--just before it imploded. Some fifteen years later, Sib and his bandmates have mended ways and are giving audiences a taste of how rock history might have been different. — Steve Palopoli, sanjose.com
