Known primarily for its drinks and clubby pub atmosphere, O'Flaherty's also hits high marks in the grub department. A full menu of Irish pub fare includes crispy fish and chips, hearty Guinness stew and shepherd's pie for a satisfying fill-up between pints. Live Irish music on Tuesdays and Sundays, happy hour specials daily and outdoor patio seating on San Pedro Square make O'Flaherty's a popular pub stop on any night of the week.

O'Flaherty's is just an all-around good time—the bartenders are genuinely friendly, the car bombs always seem to be dropping and there's usually a lively crowd. The bar even has outdoor seating, which is great for people watching on warm summer nights. To get things started off right order a Mad Hatter, or two if you dare. In addition to some great knockout drinks, O'Flaherty's has delicious calamari and French fries to help soak up the booze.

The bar, true to its roots, hosts Irish folk music on Sundays and Tuesdays, prides itself on the way it produces just the right head on a Guinness and shows soccer games. The menu includes Irish-themed dishes like the Sean O'Casey and the Connaught Delight. The bar is currently doing some reconstruction but is still open. -- Metro Bars & Clubs, June 16, 2010

Best Irish Pub

As old as Atty Haye's goat, as thieving as a fox's snout, you can hear them say. They also say, Beauty won't make the pot boil, or Wear it like a thistle on the hearth. In the lilt of Irish laughter, you can hear the angels sing at O'Flaherty's Pub in San Pedro Square in downtown San Jose. If the boys in the SJPD are singing Galway Bay, then they're probably at O'Flaherty's.

Best Pre-Sharks Game Spot

O’Flaherty’s Irish Pub, located on downtown San Jose’s San Pedro Square, is a haven for the after-work crowd who come streaming in for their potent happy hour. Sporting sliding doors up front to include those on the patio in the congenial drinking times being had inside, O’Flaherty’s also plays host to Celtic jam sessions on some nights to put you further into the Irish frame of mind, if all the Guinness and whiskey, poured expertly by their stylish bartenders, hadn’t done that already.

---------------------

The place where a lot of downtown San Jose bar hoppers start and end their nights, this Irish pub has a jovial, if slightly raucous atmosphere. O'Flaherty's experienced bartenders sling car bombs left and right and actually know how to pull a pint. Plus, the bar actually has Smithwick's on tap, which counts for a lot in some circles. With outdoor seating and tasty bar food O'Flaherty's gets understandably crowded, but somehow squeezing in at the bar never seems disagreeable, it's part of what makes this San Jose bar fun.
