The Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) in Mountain View presents Meringue, an exhibition featuring paintings by Lindsay Evans Montgomery. The exhibition will be on display in CSMA’s Mohr Gallery from May 26 through July 23, 2017. There will be a reception with the artist on Friday, June 2 from 6-8pm.

Lindsay Montgomery’s works are inspired by a celebrity-obsessed culture. Meringue features paintings of aura readings created from celebrity tabloid photographs. Montgomery believes that anyone can learn to see and read auras through extreme practice and dedication. One simply needs to retrain their eye to pick up on the colors that surround physical beings. The artist is fascinated by aura readers that have seen the beautiful hues that surround a person that change based on emotion or activity. Her paintings are an extension of the celebrity aura readings she has made, as though the auras have been placed under a microscope and one was viewing the large shapes that make up the colorful layers of the human aura. Geometric shapes, often found above the head of sacred or holy people, are portrayed and reenacted in these pieces.
