Gomez, who worked at KMEL for 20 years, is arguably the station's most recognizable personality and a Bay Area icon for local hip-hop fans that grew up listening to him in the mornings. He also hosts the popular afternoon music video show California Music Channel, one of the few outlets for local artists to share their videos before the Internet. His San Jose appearances are more rare, but his November 8 event at Fahrenheit Ultra Lounge will be a special throwback of sorts for Gomez, who joins his former KMEL morning show partner DJ Mind Motion, who remains a DJ at the station.
"It's a one-two thing-Batman and Robin back together," Gomez says. "We're going to be out there definitely embracing our folks in the South Bay."
