Description
In the beginning of her solo career Beyonce mostly stuck closely to a hip-hop and R&B sound. Her debut single "Crazy In Love," for instance, has an energetic hip-hop feel reminiscent of '90s R&B radio. On her fourth album, 4, she's really moved in to the modern era. She writes pop songs that incorporate so many more influences. "Run The World (Girls)" has a heavy, electronic-loop and marching snare beat, a sample from electro-weirdo DJ collective Major Lazer, which backs her repeated shouts of "Who run the world? Girls!" "Countdown" mixes heavy dance beats and hyper-jazz shuffle into a truly experimental pop-song. Beyonce stops at the SAP Center for her Mrs. Carter Show world tour. (Amulya Datla)
